Bio: Mariam Rahmani, Ph.D., is Senior Director of AI at Sorenson Communications, where she leads the AI organization building real time sign language translation. She joined Sorenson through its 2024 acquisition of OmniBridge.ai, an Intel incubation venture she co-founded and led as Head of AI. Her team’s work spans pose estimation, self supervised video model architectures, and the evaluation problem of measuring translation quality between a visual language and a written one, where standard metrics break down. She holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology from the University of Nebraska, along with degrees in computer science, and has worked at the intersection of AI, accessibility, and Deaf communities throughout her career.
