Jackie Martin

I serve as co-investigator and lead nurse scientist on the Raíces Project, a collaboration with the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez College of Engineering. I provide clinical leadership to an interdisciplinary research team developing AI-based breast cancer prediction approaches for Puerto Rican women, an historically underrepresented population in cancer research. I contribute expertise in breast cancer disparities, health equity, and population-centered research. I support the development and interpretation of synthetic datasets and predictive models, facilitate integration of nursing and clinical perspectives with engineering methods, and help translate findings into future research aimed at improving representation, risk prediction, and equitable cancer prevention and care.

The Raices Project has been featured in Arizona Nurse.

Preliminary findings have been presented at the Predictive Phenomics Conference (2026, Washington DC), and the team plans to submit for NIH funding to continue their work.
